It's easy to get started. Here's all you do to open your account and purchase a tuition certificate:

1. Carefully read the Disclosure Booklet (PDF, 348KB) and Schedule.

2. Return your completed and signed Account Application. Select the appropriate one from the list:

  • Individual Account (PDF, 68KB) - used by an individual.
  • Custodial Account (PDF, 92KB) - used to purchase a certificate by a custodian.
  • Entity Account (PDF, 155KB) - used by trusts or estates, business entities, IRC 501(c)(3) organizations, or state/local governments.

3. Send the completed Account Application along with your check for your desired tuition certificate purchase amount to:

Once your Independent 529 Plan account has been set up, you will receive a confirmation packet with information about your account.
